Current Employee, more than 5 years
Pros
Pay and incentive structure are good for the area. Many educational and continuing education opportunities if you can figure out how to access them. Lateral moves are very accessible for nurses, therapy staff, aides, and even mid-levels if you want to move to a different specialty. The work-life balance is good if you can secure a part-time position and have good boundaries. I would recommend the company to someone moving from a different part of the US, but not to someone looking to transfer organizations in Oregon. The working conditions are more tolerable if your worker class is unionized. Strong union for nurses, hospital had first physicians' union in the united states, mid-levels and aides are unionized as well.
Cons
Typical corporate healthcare woes. Senior management is disengaged from the workers and burns through middle management in two year cycles. Reactionary policies. Rigidity. Empty gestures relating to shared governance. High turnover. Current pay increases not on par with inflation.
